Privacy Policy
Written in plain English. Morty Labs LTD is an Irish company, all documents are stored in the EU, and we follow the GDPR.
Who we are
Morty is run by Morty Labs LTD, a company registered in Ireland, with its business address at Iconic Offices, The Victorians, 15-17 Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2, D02 YX28, Ireland.
You can reach us at any time about this policy at hello@weusemorty.com.
Our role under GDPR
For client files, the solicitor's firm is the data controller: it decides what personal data goes into Morty and why. Morty Labs LTD acts as its data processor and only handles that data on the firm's instructions, under a written data processing agreement.
For our own business contacts, such as people who request a demo, Morty Labs LTD is the data controller.
What we collect
Account details: names, email addresses and sign-in information for firm team members and their clients.
Transaction information: property details, process stages, documents, queries and messages that a firm and its clients add to Morty.
Demo requests: the name, firm and contact details you give us through the demo form.
Technical information: basic logs needed to keep the service secure and working.
Why we use it
To provide the Morty service to the firm under its contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)), to meet our legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c)), and for our legitimate interest in keeping Morty secure and replying to demo requests (Article 6(1)(f)).
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use client documents for advertising or to train AI models.
Where your data is stored
All documents and personal data are stored on servers within the European Union. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is limited to the people a firm allows.
If a trusted supplier ever needs to handle data outside the EU, we only allow it with GDPR safeguards in place, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Who can see it
Clients see only their own transaction. Firm team members see only their firm's clients. Information is shared with the other side's solicitor only when the firm chooses to.
We use a small number of carefully chosen suppliers, such as secure hosting, under contracts that require them to protect the data.
How long we keep it
We keep client files for as long as the firm instructs, in line with its professional record-keeping obligations. When a firm leaves Morty, we return or delete its data within an agreed period.
Demo request details are kept only as long as needed to follow up with you.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its use, and receive a copy in a portable format.
If your data is part of a client file, contact your solicitor's firm first and we will help them respond. You can also contact us directly at hello@weusemorty.com.
You have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland (dataprotection.ie).
Keeping data safe
We use encryption, strict access controls, secure sign-in and activity records. If a personal data breach happens, we tell the affected firm without delay so that it, and we where required, can notify the Data Protection Commission within 72 hours.
Cookies
Morty uses only the essential cookies and browser storage needed to keep you signed in and the service working. We do not use advertising cookies.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update this page and tell firms before the change takes effect.
